Figuring shit out is an anthem to those of us who were told that FAILURE WAS NOT A PART OF THE PROCESS.

That not having it all figured out in an instant meant you couldn’t think quick enough. That not knowing was futile. That being wrong meant failure and that failure was wrong (a vicious cycle). Here’s to those of us that now know better and believe that it’s all a beautiful process of figuring shit out.

FSO was born in 2015 when I started a writing experiment and I realized how much fun the process was. In having this other creative outlet I was able to see the ideation process in a whole new light and I realized how much fun it was—the figuring shit out—the messiness, the chaos, the beginnings of exquisite ideas, the revealing of clever, the origin of an idea you didn’t even see coming—the privilege of getting to sort thru all of the imagination and bring something to life is like magic.

So, for me, “figuring shit out” is my subversive title to this amazing process of creativity (& life), letting the messiness be ok, and having fun with it.
